simóne j banks is a writer poet interested in composing what touches itself everywhere at once. Lately, her writing has immersed itself infinitely in the spatial, the aural and the optical perceptual planes of Black womanhood, land and self-sovereignty, ancestral Black ecologies including African American folk herbalism. Her work has appeared in the Santa Fe Writers Project, About Place Journal/Black Earth Institute, and eMerge Journal and is a 2018 and 2020 Kimbilio Fellow. She holds an MFA in creative writing from Louisiana State University, where she earned the William Jay Smith Thesis Award in poetry. She is an Assistant Professor of English at Albright College and is writing her debut collection of poetry, motherwoman. 59ce067264
